This is the face I make when I see people I don’t know arguing in public. It’s like “oh god, this is embarrassing, I shouldn’t watch!”…*slowly grabs the popcorn*

I know the whole “spirit animal” thing has gotten watered down but if I had one, it’d be a raccoon.

This blog will be a collection of the stuff I think and write in between the occasional times when I actually get productive work done. I know nothing about this place, its politics, accepted customs, etc., but the good news is that no one is following me right now and no one will for probably some time (if ever) so here we go! I get to fuck around without backseat driving.
To start off (and organize myself, I guess) I just want to list a lot of the things I believe in. These being political, religious, social, economic, whatever I can think of really. These are just in order of when I thought of them, and I might write in more detail on them later.
1. I’m an agnostic.
2. I’m a very lazy environmentalist hoping to improve there.
3. I believe in gay rights like I believe in the Wearing of Scarves rights. Meaning, it shouldn’t even be thought of really, it should just be accepted.
4. I like meat, especially bacon, but I don’t think human lives are necessarily more valuable than any (other) animal.
5. I think too many teenage or 20something girls are having babies. And not enough teenage or 20something dudes are wrapping it up (both are responsible, I’m not just blaming females, which leads me to..)
6. I don’t really buy “gender differences” like every hack comedian has a ton of jokes for. I’ve met women who couldn’t cook, guys who loved to clean, and everyone in between.
7. I don’t trust the government as far as I can throw it. And it’s gotten pretty damn big in the past half decade so that says a lot.
8. Both political parties have their faults and fanatics, but also their people trying to do the right thing.
9. Propaganda is not an Orwellian concept or something limited to China, but alive and well in the U.S. Reading the news carefully and creating your own conclusions is important in being informed instead of brainwashed.
10. People that are so liberal you cannot say anything without offending them are as bad as people who are super fundamental Christians. Moderation in all things is the key.
11. The liberal arts are fine, very rewarding areas of study, but unless you plan to teach them, majoring in them is usually a bad idea.
12. Going off 11, the areas of study I consider “liberal arts” are : writing, art, music, film, philosophy, sociology, theater, and dance. The reason I feel this way is that these are all best self taught once you have the basics.
13. There are no unlucky numbers, or lucky numbers, or any of that. The human brain is powerful, and its ability to influence your own immediate reality can be very subtle at times, making us think such things.
14. I don’t drink, smoke, or do any other sorts of drugs, but I have no problems with people who do. I do have problems with people who try to get me to change that or ridicule me for it though.
15. But at the same time, I usually just laugh them off. I don’t believe in getting “offended”. To get offended, you have to allow the person to hurt you in some way, and I never let someone have so much power over me that they can do that.
16. Going off that, I think too many people nowadays find outside sources to blame for their own problems. We’ve bred a generation of people who do not hold themselves accountable and thus sue McDonald’s over coffee burns.
17. I don’t understand when political candidates talk about appealing to the “Hispanic voter” or the “Black voter”. I’m hispanic, do I just not get invited to these mass conventions when all the Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and Cubans vote? It’s sort of demeaning, but at the same time, I guess it does have significance since they keep saying it.
18. So I guess, stereotypes that are actually true are disappointing, to make 17 shorter and more general.
19. I can really only keep up with about 10 friends at a time. I always realize it’s been a month since I’ve caught up with Person X, and it’s because I’ve been talking to Persons A through J. I feel like being super popular is a bizarre juggling act, so I settle for just being mildly sociable.
20. I really can’t believe I made it to 20. This isn’t a belief so much as a fact about me, but boy can I ramble, and I always type way more than I think people will read. At least the expectations for this are zero.
That’s all I got for now.
